Every R-Custom suit has a story behind it, and this one carries a meaning far bigger than race day.

When Warren Davies got in touch about creating a custom suit for Ironman 70.3 Swansea, the brief was never just about performance kit. This was a suit built around purpose. A suit designed to represent his reason for racing.

That reason is his three-year-old daughter, Ophelia-May.

Ophelia-May lives with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2, a rare and progressive genetic condition that causes muscle weakness and makes movement difficult. She is unable to walk independently, and at the moment there is no cure. For Warren, taking on the challenge of a 70.3-mile triathlon was about far more than getting to the start line or ticking off a personal goal. It was about pushing himself physically and mentally while raising vital awareness and funds for SMA UK, the charity supporting families affected by the condition.

Every stroke, pedal and stride had a purpose behind it.

Warren only got into triathlon at the start of 2026, initially as a way to challenge himself, but also to create a platform to advocate for Ophelia-May and support the wider rare disease community. Since then, the sport has clearly got under his skin. What started as a challenge has become something he has genuinely fallen in love with, and he has already got his 2027 calendar in his sights.

From a design point of view, it was important that the suit reflected the cause at the heart of the challenge. We used the official SMA UK branding and colours to make the message instantly recognisable, with a clean, bright layout built around the charity’s visual identity. The pink and blue tones were brought to life using the 8-colour print process, helping the colours pop and giving the suit the vibrancy it deserved. More importantly, the finished design made sure Ophelia-May’s story sat front and centre.

Personal details like Ophelia-May’s name helped turn the suit from a race-day piece into something far more meaningful. It became a statement of support, a conversation starter, and a way of carrying his motivation with him through every part of the race.

For Warren, the goal for Ironman 70.3 Swansea was simple: cross the finish line knowing he had given everything for Ophelia-May, while doing as much as possible to raise awareness and funds for SMA UK. It was about showing up for his daughter in the biggest way he could.

And when a suit is built around something that personal, it always means more than fabric and panels ever could.

This was not just a custom tri suit.

This was Warren’s reason for racing.
